Okay, I almost don't want to post any pictures yet, because the bathroom isn't finished all the way yet. But, since I have a hard time waiting, here are the "afters". I will tell you after the pictures the few little things I have left I want to do. But, I thought I should go ahead and put pictures up in case my house gets sucked up in a tronado tonight and no one ever gets to see it. :)
A few "before" pictures to refresh your memory of how far we've come

A few shots of it now. I took a lot since Mommy probably won't be able to come downstairs to see it for a while. Amazing how many pictures you can take of the same stuff!!

What do you think? Pretty shnazzy, huh? Now, no one use it! I want it to stay new looking! So, I painted the birdie frames because I loved the prints, but the frames were not so nice. But now I realize that tan was not the right color. It was just what I had on hand. So I think I will borrow a little of Meggie's blue, add a little white to it, and paint them again. And I want to make a really cute Kleenex box cover like Meggie's with cute fabric on it for the shelves and a couple more little accessories on the shelves. The top wicker basket has extra rolls of toilet paper in it. I am trying to be practical and remember that this is after all, a bathroom, and one that will be used by teenagers someday! Aahhh! So, practical, yet pretty. The kids love it and always want to use that toilet when they go to the bathroom. Tristan thought it was soo cool and said, "It's a little house!" and then asked if I would bring him in a bed and a tv! Um, no. Oh, of course what you can't see in the pictures is the still totally ripped apart shower! Yeah! That will have to wait for more money, time and energy and for some other projects to get finished first! Anyway, moving on.

This is the best Alex picture!
Zoomed in, for your benefit.
The kids had soo much fun riding the horses! And I loved it, too! Now I am too tired to write about it at all, but you were all there and if you weren't, see Megan's blog.
Here are my like 3 pictures of our Saturday trip. I couldn't find the camera for most of the time. (It turned out we had left it at the arena.) But I have to say, the last picture of Alex is priceless, if you can see his face. I look pretty goofy in it, too. But that's normal.

Wow! Your bathroom looks soooo different, even from just a few days ago! I'm so proud of you guys. I love the accessories on the shelves, the beadboard going around the room, the blue curtains, the new faucet, etc. All of the little things you changed (like the toilet paper holder) add up to make it all so much better. I love it! And I looove Alex's face in that picture. I loved how every time he'd pass us while he was riding a horse, he'd wave and smile really big and say, "I'm riding a horse!" or something like that. It makes me happy to see his huge smile!
You're right - Alex's face is priceless! He shows such uninhibited joy. It makes me think of how I felt when I was his age and rode my cousin Joyce's horse for the first time. It was so thrilling!
Sandy and I used to just sit on her out in the pasture, and when she took a step it was like an electric current of excitement!
As to your bathroom, it looks like it was made that way in the first place, not like a remodel. You did such a good job!
The decor and colors are so soothing, and the little decorative touches are perfect! I love the bird pictures and the basket of towels. Of course, I'm digging the beadboard and hardware and shelves and the Great curtain!
I'll bet you feel like the whole downstairs is new and refreshed! Probably inspires you to do even more - just relax and enjoy what you've been able to do so far. You need to make a blog entry of your whole house, before and after. Or even just a list - I would love to read it!
Thanks so much for sharing this with us, Melinda. Great job!
SOOOOO much better! Can I come use it tonight? Should we have the book club in there tonight?
Really, it is amazing the difference. You'll have to remind me to look at it tonight. (I'm making pies and bringing milk so we can have pie and a pale of milk like Little Britches and his dad used to have. Didn't you love the book?!)
Hmmm. I can't wait to see the family room and hall and stuff. I do hope that you can slow down or finish soon though so that we have time to do things and visit before I move. It's like a huge countdown to a mission or Christmas. You can't stop time. So, we need to PRIORITIZE and make our fun time a 1st priority! No more work, cleaning, remodeling, taking care of the families, etc. Just fun! :)
The bathroom is looking awesome! Who cares about the shower anyways. . it's no big deal. I've read all the posts about your family's fun weekend! I'm not surprised it involved horses!
