Summer Vacation 2013 Part 2

Yeah! More Pictures!! So, we got to Meggie's, finally, after refusing to stop at rest stops any more for Alaina's potty breaks. (We just made her pee on the side of the highway. It was the only way we were ever going to get there!)
Meggie's house!! (Do you like how it is never Brooks' house?) Of course, I got no pictures of our first day there.  But we got there around 3 pm and the kids all played and ran around and I explored all over Megan's house and oohed and aahed over all the changes. Her house is so cute, and it's so fun to be her sister and get to go all over it and ask questions and lay around on her floor just enjoying it.

Here are the first pictures I got- the next day on McDonaugh Trail. Somehow, we managed to get there right at noon- not a good idea. Alex said he didn't want to walk any more and Emme cried most of the way- until we told them that we would get them Junior Frostys afterwards if they were good.

Irelyn begging to be held.

Sleeping after crying...
Emme crying to be held.
Oh, man- I waited to long to post and now I don't remember everything! Wahhh! But, this was that night, I think, catching fireflies. They are so fun and magical and it is always kind of shocking when you catch them that they aren't fairies.
By the way, Danny had never seen fireflies before, and I think he was starting to think that I was making them up. He thought they were pretty cool.  (More stunning photography from me.)

Outdoor movie night!! That was so fun, even though Alex and I came away with even more mosquito bites! This isn't really the greatest picture, but it gives you an idea. We had popcorn and Star Crunch to eat with it and Danny thought the movie was really silly, but the kids all enjoyed it, so who cares?!

Megan had told us about how teeny Anya's violin was, but I couldn't really imagine it until I saw it in real life. It was sooo cute!! Like it belonged in a doll house. With Anya.
Megan will hate this picture, but I thought it was important to record how a Mom with 4 kids gets violin practice in. It isn't easy!
Danny wants me to make sure and say that when he played around on Megan's violin, Megan said he looked like he knew how to play. There, are you happy now, Danny? Danny says, "Very."

And this is what happens when Megan tries to play. (I'm so glad I got pictures of this!)

"Pweasssse, Mommy! Never do anything again that means that you can't give all of your attention to me!!"
The next morning we went to a parade for.... ummm... what was it for, Megan? Well, they have parades for everything there, so who knows what it was for! Alaina says it was for us, but I think it was Homecoming. We were at the very beginning of the parade, so to Alaina it probably seemed like it was for us!

Since Irelyn was stuck in the stroller, someone just came over and put a bunch of candy in her lap. She wasn't really sure what to think about it.
It's not a parade in West Virginia without tractors!!

Especially a purple tractor-
And a pink one!

Pretty horsey

Afterwards we went to a garage sale, then Sam's Club and then Aldi's. This was at Aldi's. Alex was really tired and so he just curled up in the toilet paper.
Alex making a ghost out of a trash bag.

The laptop= endless entertainment that had never occurred to our children before.
I love how Aiden's legs are crossed in this picture! That's how skinny people sit.
I got no pictures while at Cedar Point. :( So, let me insert a few pictures from the internet of the rides we went on. The computer won't let me make the pictures any bigger- sorry!

Seriously, one of the funnest days ever! Thank you so much, Megan, for making it possible! Next time, we will make sure you and Brooks come with us- so start saving your money!
Trampoline fun- made possible by Megan staying home from Cedar Point. We really missed having her there with us, but the kids looooved the trampoline!
Bowling!! I think it is more fun remembering it than it was living it. I seem to recall a lot of crying and whining...

Whoops! Somehow we accidentally got a picture of me. I thought I wasn't supposed to exist on these trips, according to the pictures.

Alex really liked feeling the air blow up his shirt.

I want you to notice where Emme's head is in this picture...

The ventriloquist at the library! The kids loved him so much, and Alex still asks for a turtle puppet, and he has made his own tennis ball like this.

Look at Alex in this one!

Megan looks tired...

Tristan's face here is great!

Now Megan looks bored...

Rock Band! This one was something I particularly wanted to do. I also wanted to do Just Dance, but that will have to happen next time. What you don't realize when you make your plans for what you will do, is that you will be dead tired from the kids all staying up so late.

Alex definitely preferred singing over doing an instrument. And he got really into it.

Megan told Audrey she could have some toast- so she came back with 6 pieces of toast. I guess she was really hungry.

Anya looks so emotional in this picture. She takes the singing pretty seriously.
Trampoline boxes are so much fun!
The park...

.... and 10 minutes later. Danny is fixing Megan's wipers so she can drive home. He was sooo wet when he was done!

The only thing funner than a trampoline, are a hundred or so water balloons on the trampoline! This kept the kids entertained for hours every day.

Swimming!! This was the second time we went. Both times we got a babysitter for Irelyn (sorry, Irelyn). We had soo much fun and it was the perfect pool for keeping an eye on the kids without stressing out about them.

Wow, two pictures of me in this whole post! That must be a new record!

Does Danny have clothes on under this? Only the towel knows for sure. Oh, and anyone walking behind him. :)

LightSaber and her Jedi friend

Look at Aiden's eyes!!
In between all of this was lots of garage sale, thrift store and sale rack shopping, doll house playing, room destroying, talking and laughing.
I have more pictures to come, but I am getting carpal tunnel from sitting here typing and doing pictures for too long.
But for now, let's just say that everything was so fun, and that if we could have had anything else, it would have been free babysitting or children in bed at 7pm sometimes so that we could spend more time with just the grownups. But, if that is all you want, then you are pretty lucky!!

So fun to see your pictures! You got some good ones. Although I have to say that yes, there are some HORRIBLE ones of me! Why save them for posterity on here?! The worst ones are of at the library. What in the world?! I am sooo out of shape!
Now, back to your trip....
We had so much fun with all of you here! Pretty sure it was even better than last time, maybe because the kids were older. It felt right to not go to Cedar Point, with all of our logistic and babysitter issues, but I would really love to go sometime! It looks like fun, and seeing that you two survived a million roller coasters gives me some sense that I can survive too.
Some of my favorite parts of your trip here were the swimming trips to Marietta!

Ooh, the roller coasters! Those are awesome!! Mark and I have to ride them!
My favorites of the pictures were the group towel ones, where Alex looks like Marty Feldman in Young Frankenstein, and Alaina with the umbrella.
Your trip sounds wonderful. So much fun packed into last summer! Think of all the things we did while Megan and Bonnie and families were here; then add your trip. That's so much swimming and splash park-ing and trampolines and fun houses and shopping and eating and parades and fishing and talking and garage sales and playing with toys and watching Miyasaki movies and bowling and fireworks and cookouts and birthdays and church and ventriloquism and cooking and clean up and picnics and baths and wii games and playing with Percy and Leto and Tut and doing karaoke and missing bedtimes. That isn't even mentioning all the things I'm forgetting! And Justin getting engaged to Tara!
Whew!!
The pictures are so cool - I saved a bunch of them. :)
