Danny's birthday and other random pictures :)

Sooooo, these pictures are going to be so random, but I will feel so happy and accomplished when I get them on here!!
In October we tried to take Alex and Tristan to Conference. We stayed at Justy and Tara's, which was really fun except that I fell asleep at 10 and so I wasn't really that fun.
We didn't have tickets, but thought we could get in on standby. Justin and Tara kept the girls, and we dropped Danny off in the standby line while we parked the car. I thought Tristan and Alex and I could look around a little while Danny was in line, but in no time Alex had wandered off and was nowhere to be seen. After quite a bit of searching, I broke down and asked the police security for help. They got church security involved, and about 15 minutes later (I was really starting to get worried) and about 30 seconds after Tristan and I stopped and said a prayer, the police found him crossing the street at the corner of Temple Square. What a relief!!!
Anyway, to make the story short, we didn't get in to the first session, but spent it in the standby line in the old Tabernacle.

They said if we waited- another two hours- through the break that we would surely get in to the next session, as we were right at the front of the line now. But they didn't let in a single person from the standby line!! We had sat for 6 hours on those wooden benches, so it's no wonder Tristan cried when he found out we weren't going to make it in.
Anyway, it was a beautiful day and we will go down again- with tickets!
In October Danny turned 40 and so I threw him a surprise party. Emme carried the cake in from the car- ahhhh!- and this was what happened to the cake. And then Danny's parents, who were supposed to keep him until 6 at the earliest, brought him at 5:45, when guests were still arriving! Then, to top it all off, Danny, for the first time EVER, came in the back door as we were all anxiously gathered around the front door to surprise him. So, we were more surprised than him when he walked in and said hi. Oh, well! It was still a lot of fun and we always wonder why we don't have fun people over more often to play.

 Opening presents!
We played a "Danny trivia game, which his parents didn't win! Haha! Ben won, actually, which was quite funny.

I just finished this last semester of Child Development and Humanities, and loved both of them. For Humanities we had to do lots of fun different things, but did quite a bit of photography. I made this collage of pictures to show me and what I like to do- or what I like to do when I'm not in school!

Here is a poem I had to write. It had to be a love letter of sorts, and it had to use 7 different forms of poetry and style.

Gift
Darling baby, gift divine,
With tiny hands entwined in mine.
Whose laughter like a fount o’er flows
Round open eyes and wrinkled nose.
Who looks to me for warm embrace
And see the heavens in my face.

Little one, will you take me,
Who falls so short what I should be?
A seedling, struggling, are we both
Yet within each lies a daring hope.
A latent gift from God above,
A chance, a glimpse, to know true love.

So to my breast I’ll close hold thee,
My darling child, my sweet baby.

And here are some family pics Megan took of us!! It was a crazy night to take them, and Alex was all kinds of weird, and I thought my hair and makeup looked weird in a lot of the pictures, but somehow Megan still managed to get some good shots! Proof of her powers.
